Before the creation of social networks, fashion news and new trends were not at hand, at all times, as they are today. Indeed, we had to wait in order to read the articles published in our favorite magazines, which operated in a very different system than the one we know today, where brands could take the time to finish their work on the collections and choose their visuals therefore, they were not in this permanent rush of 24 hours a day where you always have to do it faster and better. We now have the luxury of opening Twitter or Instagram, scrolling through our screens and discovering new trends, news and controversies in the industry at the click of a finger via the people we follow; while before we discovered them through these glossy magazines, which had a much greater influence than today. And they too have experienced this transformation due to social networks, where advertising campaigns and articles on the new collection of this or that House no longer have the impact they had before.
Fashion, an environment often considered to be reserved for the elite, was part of a mystery that is now erased. Without being invited to fashion shows or private events at the Maisons, it was not so easy to see fashion other than through paper. Social networks have revolutionized fashion, making it accessible to the general public everywhere and all the time. It is now possible to watch the Saint-Laurent fashion show on your sofa and especially in real time via your smartphone. It is also possible to comment and react to fashion news and new collections by leaving a comment under a publication. The time when only industry experts dictated trends is over. Everyone is free to share their opinion, whether it is good or bad on the networks. Everyone has a voice.
